Great Day!!!

Hey everyone. Today was a great day, even though it started out bad. With running on like 2 hours of sleep and still being sick, I didn't want to sub today, but I am sure glad I did.

I subbed at Clark today and I am sure most of you around Clovis/Fresno have heard about the fire in the mobile home I think on Monday or Tuesday. Well, unfortunately, 3 people did not make it out of the fire. 1 of them being a student a Clark. Now the name sounded familiar, but today I was able to put a name to a face. I was subbing in this one class and this student had the letter that was sent home to the parents at the school and had a picture of her and the student who didn't make it out of the fire. So I talked with the student, expressing my condolences, asking about the student, and went on my way. But it was killing me inside. I was watching this student and I could tell she was hurting. So before the bell rang, I pulled her aside and talked with her about how I lost my friend in December in a car accident and that I know how hard it is to lose someone you care about. And she asked me about my friend and stuff and we talked some more. I gave her my e-mail to talk anytime, because no one knows how it feels unless it has happened to you. She hugged me and thanked me.

Just talking to her and knowing that maybe I made an impact or at least could relate to how she was feeling, left me feeling happy inside. Like I did the right thing. Now whether she e-mails me or not, that's up to her, but knowing we made a connection is all I needed.

It's things like this that make me want to be a counselor. And with all the events in my life lately, taking the steps to that might be in the near future.

I don't mean to make anyone sad, but I just needed to lay out my thoughts and post them somewhere.

The icon I have chosen reminds me of Laura and I. Me being the Kevin lover and her the Nick lover. The words are true, as I still need her, but even though she may not be here physically, she is still here as my guardian angel.

Laura, was a true friend. Someone who always was there for me and supported me through thick and thin. She was so easy going and I rarely ever saw her get mad. She wanted the best for me, for my future as a teacher. She always wanted to know when I had an interview and how it went. When I didn't get the job, she had encouraging words to boost me back up. She was an aspiring writer and had written many wonderful pieces. She was absolutely brilliant!

I'll never forget the first time Laura came to my house. I am surprised she actually came back, lol. We were at my house and then we decided to go for a walk. So we went on this nature walk (as I called it) around my old neighborhood. Halfway through the walk, a car came behind us slowly. I got paranoid and thought they were following us. Laura looked at me like I was strange, but we ended up walking faster. Sure enough, Laura was right and they pulled into the garage at a house. So yeah, I made a fool of myself, but Laura didn't care.

Laura and I went through many changes and with that many obsessions. Our first noted obsession was Power Rangers. Yes, we were nerds. I won't go into details, because you all will make fun of us, but let's just say we did some embarassing stuff. Laura and I put that behind us, but we always made sure to have a good laugh when we brought it up. Our next obsession was baseball. My favorite was Javy Lopez and her's was Alex Rodriguez. We spent a TON of money on cards and watched games all the time. That was definately a costly obsession. After baseball died down, we entered the Backstreet Boys zone. I was the culprit here and began loving them with their first single 'Quit Playing Games With My Heart'. We created a website, a online magazine against Howie (poor Howie), attended concerts, and bought TONS of memorablia. We met 4 out of 5 of them on different occassions, saw them in concerts across California and Nevada (San Jose, Bakersfield, San Diego, LA, Las Vegas). We saw them on the Jay Leno show 4 years ago and Laura and Sally slept outside all night for us to see them. It was because Laura and Sally that I met Kevin that very same day. I will never ever forget that day. Just 4 months ago we were in Vegas, enjoying the comeback of the Backstreet Boys. I am SO glad that worked out and that we were able to enjoy the concert together one last time.

I am going to miss my friend Laura-Cakes. I miss her so much already. But God has another angel watching over me. I feel privelaged to have known Laura and I thank God for giving me such a wonderful friend. I will never ever forget you Laura.

I just found out one of my dear friends Laura Pope was killed in a car accident last night. I am still in shock. Like it doesn't seem real. Please pray for her family. Please pray for me to have strength to be there for her family. I keep hoping this is a dream, but it isn't.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I am thankful for everyone who is reading this. I am so blessed to have you in my life.

I am thankful for a wonderful, supportive family, who has had to deal with SO much from me this past year, but they still love and encourage me.

I am thankful for my health and my families health.

I am thankful for every day I have on this Earth.

I am thankful for a loving and forgiving Lord, who has never given up on me. Thank you for being my light and path when things went dark.

Subbing today was great! I did 6th grade at a school I interviewed at. It was weird, because I met who they hired over me and I got sad. I normally am fine with not having a job, reminding myself that it wasn't meant for me and that God has a plan, but today it made me sad. I got over it, but I couldn't help the way I felt. I found an inspirational quote today, to help me with my situation of not finding a job. Let me tell you, this one is going in the wallet. It definately helped me today! I'll have to post it later when I get it out of my purse.

Question, I am going to a Holiday dinner and the attire is SEMI-FORMAL. What does that mean? Like skirt and top outfit or should I go buy a dress? I have never been to anything remotely formal, so I have no idea what is appropriate. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I can't remember if I posted about this or not, but I used Best Buy's online digital photo lab to print pictures. I absolutely love the quality. I had them sent to the store here in Fresno and they came out soooo nice. I know that a ton of us digital cameras, so I thought I would share. They are 19 cents per photo and you can upload and share them from their website as well. Just thought I would share :)
